At the same time, it is a popular place to settle down and raise a family. The schools are highly rated, and the Mar Vista Recreation Centers provide excellent activities for kids. On the west end of town is the North Venice Little League Park, which hosts numerous youth sporting events year-round.

Helmed by chef Sean Collins, the restaurant is well known for fusing timeless classics with modern techniques. The restaurant’s real claim to fame is its outdoor dining area. It sits right on the marina, making it an excellent spot for yacht gazing. Every Sunday, the restaurant hosts its famous Boat House Pool Party. If you’re looking to dine in the neighborhood, locals recommend Taverna at Mar Vista. The Taverna was voted as one of the best bars in Southland by the LA Times, but its food is equally as impressive as its cocktails. Tavernia specializes in Greek cuisine and has some of the best Paidakia and Lavaraki you’ll find outside of the Adriatic Sea. Don’t forget to indulge in their hand-made Baklava for dessert.
Mar Vista is full of boutique shops. Vintage on Venice is a favorite. Located on Venice Boulevard, locals have dubbed this store as “V on V.” True to its name, the boutique specializes in selling restored vintage home goods. The store owners and employees have a well-deserved reputation for being friendly and knowledgeable about their vintage goods.

No Mar Vista guide would be complete without mentioning the famous Mar Vista Farmers’ Market. The market operates every Sunday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Venice Boulevard. The market organizers go to great lengths to verify that every vendor is a locally owned family farm. When shopping at the market, you can rest assured that everything was grown locally and sustainably.
